Congratulations to our T20 Gold team on winning the Coffs Harbour District T20 Competition. A convincing display all season, relentless effort every game and cool heads in the final. A very deserved win for a committed team. Thanks to Old Skool Pizza for feeding the mob after the match.
Senior Presentation Night is booked for Saturday evening 28th March at Sawtell Hotel. 5.30 for 6pm start.
Junior Presentation Arvo is Sunday arvo 22nd March at Richardson Park. Please put the dates in your calendars.
Any players with perpetual trophies please return them to a member of the committee. I will be at the raffles each Friday evening from 5.30 til 7pm if you want to drop them off then.
Having four of our juniors in the Under 12s Interdistrict winning side bodes well for the future of the club. We can’t thank enough the coaches and parents for supporting these young players as they develop into future senior players.
The final round of the season is next round with most grades already in finals. Good luck to all in the final round. Whilst 4ths Blues are licking their wounds after a Gold victory, there is still a possibility of both our 4th grade sides playing in the grand final…. but only if the planets align.

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT
U12 Interdistrict grand final. CHDCA vs VALLEYS. 12 Feb.
Sawtell had four representatives in the u12s NCCC grand final Playing for Coffs Harbour- Nate, Eva, Jai and Percy. Cooper Heinz who also plays 4th grade for the blue side was in the opposition playing for Valleys and took 3 wickets. Great games by all of our Sawty reps. Highlights: Percy nearly pulled off the catch of century in the outfield, Jai kept brilliantly, Eva helped arrest Valleys momentum with miserly bowling and Nate took a 5fer (5/20 off 7). CHDCA getting the win to be 2025/26 CHAMPIONS!!! We are all very proud of their efforts, skill and sportsmanship shown.

U10s Suns
Another bumper game for the u10 suns against Nana Glen saw captain Immi win the toss and elect to field. The decision paid off with early wickets with Gem clean bowling one of the Nana Glen kids on his first over. It was great to see more backing up in the field this week too with some really close attempts at direct hits.
Another huge positive was the way that we are using more of the field in our batting. Both Wilder and Immi playing clean shots down fine leg while Ollie nailed a huge 6 while Gem and Linc joined him with powerful fours. Only a couple of weeks left to hone the skills we have been developing. Keep it up Suns, you're doing great.
U10s Stars
Sawtell stars played Macksville cricket club at Urunga . It was an exciting game with both teams tied on 49 on the last ball of the day ! The stars running between wickets , batting and support in the field was fantastic. Thanks to Sunny who helped out the team making out the numbers. A Great match and great coaching from Joel! Well done Stars - good luck at Nana Glen this weekend!
U12 Sixers
Sawtell Sixers U12s vs Bellingen U12 .Toormina Oval
A warm, humid morning at Toormina Oval set the tone for a proper contest between the Sawtell Sixers and Bellingen U12.
Bello won the toss and elected to bat first on an outfield that had been mown in theory — the grass left behind making it feel more like a hay paddock than a cricket ground. Good shots were routinely reduced to hopeful singles, swallowed up before they had any chance of reaching the rope.
Bello ticked along patiently, rotating their batters and managing their innings well. With more retirees than a coastal bowls club AGM, they kept the scoreboard moving without taking unnecessary risks.
Only two boundaries were scored in the entire innings — proof that patience, not power, was the order of the day.
The wickets came via Hudson and Percy, keeping things tight as Bello finished on 2–74, a competitive total.
Sawtell Chase
The Sixers’ reply began in difficult fashion: 1–1, 2–2, and then 3–13. The chase suddenly looked far steeper than it had on paper.
Bello pulled off two spectacular caught-and-bowled dismissals — sharp reflex efforts worthy of the summer highlight reel.
Huddy and Oaky began to steady things before a genuine beauty slipped through the gate to remove Hudson at a key moment.
At drinks, Sawtell were 5–39 after 10 overs — the game evenly poised and very much up for grabs.
With wickets falling early, Huey dug in for his 7 from 20 balls, holding his end while the scoreboard crept forward in what was a chase tighter than your belt buckle after an all-you-can-eat buffet.
From there, Oaklan and Percy worked together calmly, managing the strike and taking responsibility as the equation narrowed.
Oaklan delivered a genuine Man of the Match performance, facing 37 balls in total and guiding the chase.
And fittingly, it was Oaklan who struck the winning run with one ball to spare, sealing a hard-earned victory.
This wasn’t comfortable. It wasn’t fluent.
But it was tight, tough, and taken when it mattered.
On to next week where a game away to Urunga should set them
for a finals berth
U12s Sloggers
Sloggers vs Woolgoolga Rebels Sharks 21st Feb
Sloggers played away against the rebel sharks in Woolgoolga batting first on a slow outfield making it hard to hit boundaries.
Runs came steadily to set a competitive total of 75. Lucas top scored with 22 - hitting two glorious fours behind square.
Tight bowling and fielding kept Sawty in the game to win by 13 runs.
U14s
Wednesday 18th Feb
On a warm Wednesday afternoon at sunny Toormina, we faced the ladder leaders, Woolgoolga, who elected to bat first.
With Jude, Lucas and Bodhi sharing the wickets, we worked hard in the field, but Woolgoolga compiled a strong 3/115. A highlight was Daniel, one of their emerging talents, who entertained everyone in attendance with a classy 37 from 30 balls.
Chasing against a disciplined and well-drilled attack, we found scoring tough. Hunter (11), extras (16) and our ever-reliable Jude (41* from just 18 deliveries) were the only ones to reach double figures.
Woolgoolga were simply too strong on the day, but the match gave us a valuable look at the depth of their arsenal. We’ve taken plenty from the contest and are already developing a plan for when we meet again in the finals.
Wednesday 25th February
After winning the toss, Mac, elected to bat - and for a moment there, we looked like the Australian T20 side pre-2026.
Eva (15) and Jasmine (10) laid a strong foundation with an opening stand of 28, and every batter made a valuable contribution. Liam (25) and Lucas (13) lifted the tempo before our batting superstar, Jude, exploded at the end with a brilliant 46* from just 20 balls. We finished with an imposing 2/128.
With the ball, after a few early lucky escapes, Bellingen/Dorrigo found their rhythm and accelerated quickly. Chisel, Bodhi, Mac and Leo each claimed a wicket, but Bellingen proved just too strong, finishing 4/131 with 14 balls to spare.
An exciting contest and a terrific effort from both sides. While Bellingen took the points, the real winner was cricket.
U16s
Getting strike batsman Jacka out for only 14 left diggers with a tally of 48 runs which was chased down in 12 overs

4th Grade
4th grade Blue vs Gold.
Sawty showdown #2 was held on the 21st Feb. A little late for Valentines with the promise of little love lost. There was some interesting absentees from this round with gold players going out of their way to hide ~7500km away and blue players shooting themselves with a nail gun to be non starters.
Alas the game got away, with gold winning the toss and batting first in hot and muggy conditions. Gold setting 151 with Phil M getting 43 and Nate the pick of the bowlers with 2/11.
Blue: catches win matches. Including the captain glancing one off his head on the boundary to make sure of a six. Also rolling down the drain in the aftermath has brought great amusement to family members throughout the week.
Blue hung in to get within 20 runs but regular wickets stymied our chase. Jai levy taking 2/12 from the gold team.
Congratulations to gold for evening the ledger at one a piece this season and moving into 2nd place on the ladder. Other results also ensured Blue will make the semis this season.
Great effort all round for Sawty 4th graders. Thanks to Scotty for supplying the refreshments and the scorers Holly and Kelly for always supporting our teams.
Round #3 is still a big possibility this season and is not to be missed.

Bob snagged a3fa. Dorrigo were 6fa when they reached the target.R Bailey finished on 97. In a game of ‘if onlys’ we had a real chance but werethwarted by an R. Bailey barnacle.

Sat 21/2 Vs Woolgoolga Rebels
Nice warm day down at Richo for the penultimate roundof the season. Up against 2nd on the ladder Woolgoolga Rebels.
Same pitch we played on Thursday night for the T20final which had a few demons in it early on with the new ball. However, had abit more work done to it and a bit more grass.
Coin goes up, once again heads. Away team guessescorrectly, choose to bat.
Seemed like a tough deck maybe the first few balls butsoon flattened out.
Openers started well with Flynn and Trent. Spin provedto be tough again with plenty of turn through the middle overs. Richie chiefrun stopper with 0/6 off his 8 with 4 maidens. The guy facing him sure made itlook hard to bat.
Strong bowling and fielding saw Rebels restricted to123 all out after their 40 overs. Stillwasn’t the best with a fair few looseners and some misfields, drop catch or 2and run out opportunities.
The talk was to make sure of the run chase, andputting a huge price on your wicket asit would be difficult.
The openers got off to a steady start, but did find itdifficult to score early on. Anything short was there for the pickings, withskipper hitting one over forward square for 6 second ball of the innings.
1/33 after 9 in a solid start. Then the flood gatesopened. Scoring at just a tick above 10 runs per over, and 2 solidpartnerships, the game was wrapped up in the 19th over.
Very convincing win close out to finals. We prideourselves on our batting quality and depth, which showed today.
Next week, boys travelling up the mountain for Sat andSunday.

T20 Final Vs Woopi 🏆
We finally won a toss and were able to have a stick infront of a large home crowd in the T20 final. They were treated to a Tyh Murphyand Richie Gallichan show for the first 15 overs. Our two big dogs openedtogether and summed up the conditions perfectly, playing with the ultimate softgame and punishing anything loose, both on there way to classy half centuries. An opening stand of 128, helped us to score of 159, which was a mammoth totalon a large and slow outfield.
This effort was carried into our bowling. The boysdidn’t get greedy but stuck to bowling tight areas, forcing mistakes from thebatsmen. Trent Dierick and Tom Rawding were the pick of our bowlers, with 3poles each. Trent did the damage through the middle order, with the assistanceof some clean glove work from Dave Angus. Tom the pom then came on and rippedthrough them, taking impressive figures of 3/7. Jaybien Johnson capped thingsoff perfectly taking a couple of wickets to finish the job.
A 71 run win was a fitting way to finish off what wasa very strong year for our T20 side. It was a pleasure for all of our boys toplay, and win in front of so many of past and present SCC players, as well asvalued members of our club and community. Big game player Richie Gallichan tookhome Player of the Final after a mammoth performance with bat and ball.
Lifting the T20 cup was a nice reward for our groupwho have worked so hard this year in white ball cricket throughout variouscompetitions. Now we will have to shift our focus to 2 day cricket to bringhome the big one that our squad has been working towards.
